The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 挺好的立意，浅谈数学学习的意义。也有欧拉公式，巴赫，黎曼猜想等，但我不太喜欢电影和南北韩关系扯在一起。
支线非常随意(朋友？爱情对题目的质疑等) 韩国又幻想 主线谁不喜欢逆袭 就像令狐冲遇到风清扬 爽就完事了 死去的儿子对朝鲜那么忠诚但是出乎意料

还行吧，就是感觉剧情有点拖拉就是，一直想让人快进的感觉，后面有被燃到，前面铺垫的时间有点长了，导演如果再精简点，更突然数学上的造诣，会更好 。

从处女作“苏格拉底”就能感受到这个导演追求纪录的影像风格，难得的是连上一部的主演都保留了，真长情啊...
看完这部电影 更加肯定了自己是一个数学学渣 。。。
Not a very compelling story.很真实但实在太老套了…放在二十年前都不新鲜。Santoro居然老成这样，真是岁月不饶人啊………………
这几个词放在一起就很性感
巴西电影往往有惊喜，当大家关注黑市奴隶劳工的同时，有没有关注卢卡先生，温水煮青蛙式的洗脑方式，一步一步令人忠心为他卖命。
反抗，加入，被剥削者成了剥削者。社会的逼迫，贫穷的无奈，很复杂的刻画，一直在等什么时候逃离……突然的结束了，就是说 这吃人的黑暗社会就是囚笼，无法逃离，能改变命运的，终是幸运的……
东亚真是太苦了。前半段还是个逆向心灵捕手的故事，你拯救我的数学，我拯救你的心理；后半段南北关系就压上来，结尾高燃大师竟在我身边。挺精致的，很韩，很韩。
看完这部电影 更加肯定了自己是一个数学学渣 。。。
7个囚徒中唯一走出的被拉拢成新的剥削者，反抗的力量难以凝聚。导演或许在借用囚徒处境影射巴西社会困境，偏现实主义风格还是蛮喜欢的。
原来数学也可以这么有趣！前半段我真是太喜欢了！
