The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 说这片子会是黑马简直是在黑黑马，完全就是光线青春片套路的又一次复刻量产，我想象中的这部影片都比它实际的样子要强，几个新人下苦功夫在花游上还不如先练好表演，当然这个锅明显该由调教能力不足的导演来背。

游泳池真的好好拍啊 金色的水花和波纹 好多画面的构图和光影都好美 高飞站在一楼仰头看顶楼的张伟的那个画面我真的好喜欢啊！五个小孩儿都很有辨识度 虽然青涩但是可爱 很难不爱少年羁绊和奋斗的故事..告别九月^^
两星半吧，拍的非常一般，并且整个宣发一直卖惨让人很反感，尤其是这个导演，扫过一眼他的直播，感觉口才不错，说的比拍的好。辛云来在《悲伤逆流成河》里挺亮眼的，在这部的镜头里却被拍的非常普通，甚至有些丑，反倒是李孝谦和吴俊霆比较出彩。
终于不是恋爱、分手，怀孕的“青春”了。这部电影真的很棒，除了许多励志。男子花泳那段，演员都很努力。我欠你们一张电影票。
不矫揉造作，不歇斯底里，挺好的，就感觉和2017年的《闪光少女》一样，看的有点青春热血的感觉。
不应该选国庆档。网播平台看完，然后买了一张线下影院的票。
合格的青春片。关于普通男孩不普通的一搏。结尾群戏有惊喜，没有比赛才是最好的比赛。我就说男子花样游泳会很有看头，可不知道还要多少年才能进入奥运会，这可是告别性别刻板印象的重要一拳。
我们有大把时间可以一起为了坚持的事而努力到底，一起失败迷茫后再尝试，一起惹是生非一起剃平头，即使在往后的日子里我们各奔东西散落四方，最终也没有变成想成为的大人，含糊着对年少的自己说抱歉，但最想感谢的仍然是你们。因为有你们，照亮了我那平淡无奇的青春。P.S.看完又想学游泳了
出乎意料地好看，很青春很热血，而且既没有狗血恋爱，更没有人流堕胎。
完成度特别高。笑泪交织。与日版不一样风格，非常中国。张伟爸爸叫蝈蝈爸爸时笑死在影院。
老板请客包场看电影🎬！本以为是主旋律电影，没想到真的好看！谁不曾少年，大多数人都是普通人，然而曾为了一道光执着已经是生之意义，正如朝生暮死的彩蝶，宇宙的刹那而已，却为了绽放使出所有的生命力。永远为这样的生命热泪盈眶。
整个国庆档一开始本就只打算看这一部，查了下拍片，太艰难了。都是五六点的晚饭时间和十点之后的睡觉时间，每个影院一天基本只安排一场，挑了个晚上六点多的时候去看了。
辛柏青的表演一如既往地稳定，不输日版的竹中直人。而五个少年让我迷惑了：他们是为谁而表演呢？
原本放暑期档多好，绝对吊打同类型的《燃野少年的天空》，挤国庆档票房扑水多可惜。

看过的中国好看的青春片，几乎没一部是爱情片。把体育片和青春片结合起来拍，往往是成功的砝码。这部电影也正好让人思考一下男学生的男性气质与女性气质的问题，毕竟不久前“娘炮”就被公开炮轰了。如何诠释青春呢？或许青春刻骨之处不在于爱过，在于迷茫过与奋斗过。
