The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 有些粗糙却很温暖的动画，乡村真好啊简简单单晒太阳。
是昨晚emo时当机立断选看的，主角们温柔又善良，小姑娘蕴含着大大的力量，河童们活泼又可爱。
画风、人物、立意都很温暖与治愈，无奈情节不是很完美，和红祟的高潮部分有些如鲠在喉，挖掘得不是很深刻。

感觉今年五月是拖延症最严重的一个月。为了躲避自己做的list看了好多电影。上班前最后一部电影，基调慢慢的，但是看着格外舒心。前面节奏很棒，最后高潮部分或许是因为制作时间长短的缘故收尾的好仓促。但总体不失为一部很棒的电影！
画面干净、克制、情感准确、有触感
喜欢中间讲述传说的独特画风，很有风格，浪漫的童话故事，剧情在各种风格中来回穿梭也并无太多违和感，今年第一部治愈番

日常又带有一点奇异，平平静静的生活，然后鬼怪部分有点让人唏嘘，打斗过程太快了，而且全靠两个孩子的普通技能就结束了😅
什么是青春？是一场梦。什么是爱？梦的内容。
前一半都以为是种田文，后面忽然魔幻了起来。是一部中间打破你剧情走向猜想的故事。画面美丽，里面的房子也太漂亮啦。总体来说：治愈，有趣。观影体验有两个地方不太好。1-前期剧情发展慢，容易弃了退出。2-打Boss的时候忽然Boss就灭了。不过，看到Boss灭的莫名其妙的时候，一条弹幕跳了出来：“生活中有些困难不就是这样么，看起来很恐怖，但是当你鼓起勇气去面对的时候，很简单就可以解决”。嗯，这个Boss在这个电影里的高潮剧情么？是，又不是。看到这个弹幕后可以接受这个Boss如此潦草了。总的来说，推荐。
平平淡淡相互守护的没有血缘的家人，还有一只猫咪，什么都能满足的万事屋，很好很好的妖怪邻居朋友，愿经历苦难的人们都能带着希望重新出发。
青春就是自己也不知道自己要什么，不停尝试不断寻找，不稀罕送上门的，却又追逐虚妄的执着，耍自私的小心机，到手了又推开，反反复复，叛逆又拧巴，啊青春啊青春，一团乱麻的青春期！（女主角吊着脸劲劲的的样子非常女高中生了

玩着高级的心机，面对喜欢的人时却又意外的单纯直接，不做掩饰；能对不谙世事的女二下狠手，但却又没法让自己坏事做到底。长相和风格都非常戳我，为达目的可以不择手段，自己本身又是充满矛盾的一个个体，只能说女主这个角色深得我心。4.5。
