The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. Netflix风格还是很明显。苏曼和女朋友在彩虹旗下奔跑那里，眼眶湿润了。
比較起來，這部很理想，很純粹，像李安的敘事鏡頭下，就更真實深刻殘忍無奈，各種複雜情緒交織了。。
开心时就要大声笑，吃东西的时候就要大口吃，吃的胖胖的。
日常酸国外电影题材广泛。印度风格的商业片，观感还不错，当作一般喜剧去看就好。但比起摔爹等还是差不少。深度不够，有点隔靴搔痒，用喜剧去消解严肃话题就很容易这样吧。
承继诅咒录像带的传统梗，来了个诅咒版《你的名字。》，可是演得假了点，拍得也是（虽然有分析佬解释主角本身作假的真正意图，是蛮有新意的，包括最后视觉残像那块小设计；最后的自白彰显了人性懦弱自私的本质，一个我弱我霉我有理的坏人形象确实够讨厌的），中间还企图用“感人”亲情“迷惑众”人。女主的意图，逻辑走向的呈现是混乱和矛盾的，这一点剪辑和台词都有问题，剧本问题更大一些，不少废台词还有散不去的说教意味。这种类似病毒营销、我称之为诅咒式营销的脚本差点想再减一星，毕竟这个玩法不新，塑造的恶人形象又不恶得彻底，你说难不难受。
喜宴后遗症啊，一直担心男女主一时兴起产生出来个baby，还好还好，女主和女朋友真的有点配哎。印度能拍出这种片子来，真的蛮厉害的。
好甜！好甜！最后画面停留在五口之家的时候本人流下了最真诚的彩虹色泪水啊！
现在的宝莱坞已经可以惊艳所有人了，歌舞老本行照样拍的好（喜欢婚礼那段歌舞！），主题层面也不落后，敢想敢拍，而且非常真诚，哪怕是理想化的结局也照样动人。女主人公超级酷，在警官上司家访那段好精彩！
两个同性恋为了不再被催婚而形婚，后来还是被家人发现，两人都和家人坦白了，最后因为领养孩子还是保持婚姻关系，不过他们的对象都被家人接受了~respect
《真雄起》到《永结同心》是质的飞跃，四年前还在很生硬地宣传同性恋不是变态，现在却已经深入到形婚，领养，公职人员这些比较成熟的话题了，再次可喜可贺！
很难想象连我们邻国印度，都能以宝莱坞式的幽默，拍出一部包含LES、TXL、形婚、以领养代替生殖癌的同影。🌈
被我们一直认为贫穷又落后，愚昧又无知的印度竟然可以拍出这类题材的电影也是让人吃惊不已。

看似合家欢的形婚happy ending其实也是妥协的结果，但正如热评所说，能拍能映能被讨论就已经是一大进步。骄傲游行很燃很感动。女二小姐姐好姬好美。
