The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 哎呀这电影我吃不消啊！
不喜欢印度电影的节奏和摄影手法 但是意义是ch无法企及的 起码ch现在已经没有奔赴前线揭露真相的媒体了 我们从不缺乏“每一份光” 但是我们缺乏发光发热的地方
印度这几年的社会题材电影有点韩国电影的赶脚啊。
至少敢拍，能拍，还能放映，超了几条街了吧。如果警方定不了罪，那把他们当场释放咯，看看人民的愤怒是不是能撕了那四个人头。如果不能，这就是没血性的名族，也就不用去辛苦定罪了。还十四年，强奸，谋杀，焚烧毁尸，想想都气。知道为什么权贵帮他们四个人吗，不光是他们帮权贵做事，而且权贵也会追求刺激做出和那四个人一样的事情，所以当然他们轻拿轻放了。还有一开始的时候，上面老头一派胡言，竟然不敢扔鞋子，还谈什么读书人，百无一用
最令人觉得恐怖的是，要不是警长良心发现，主动把案件真相交出来，这件事很可能就被掩盖过去了
也没多复杂的剧情 东绕西绕扯了将近三个小时 实在有点受不了。
越是在信息社会快速发展的的时代，独立的思考越难能可贵。
一部电影浓缩了很多焦点问题，在看的过程直呼过瘾。认可网友的评论。它的其他意义远远大于电影悬疑的意义。
那些拿拍摄手法、剧情bug说事，讽刺别人因为题材打五星的人，自己不也因为题材给战狼，长津湖打了五星吗？每个人都有自己的评分标准，没有谁比谁高级，用不着装高级讽刺别人。

7.5分吧，败笔的bgm 太太太糟糕了，围绕着种姓制度下媒体审判的程序正义与结果正义，本质还是权力与权利之争，那种「狂热的正义」有些国家的人本应更有感触，但我知道它们会说什么话语。Win-Win🤮
的确精彩，中国的确拍不出这样的电影，的确也是因为题材加一星，不解决问题而是解决提出问题的人，哪都一样啊🐶

最近，印度好片有点多啊，《较量》的剧本是真的好，反转不太高明，没铺垫，以后说不定我国又要翻拍这部电影了，但是印度电影的通病就是太长了😂😂😂
