The Freebie centers on Darren (Shepard) and Annie (Aselton), a young married couple with an enviable relationship built on love trust and communication. 前半程是小人物的喜剧，后半程是中国式英雄的故事。爱情在这里抽象成为了一种信念。鲁滨逊式的度日生活在几个世纪后依旧吸引着戏中人和观众。中国式英雄的结局注定是悲壮的，没有美式英雄的种种奇迹。但是啊，你走了之后，世界变得更好了，不是吗？
