The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 影片也让人联系到不少的密室悬疑探案作品，《利刃出鞘》大家对比最多，但反而让我想到更多的是《探长来访》，尤其是最后所谓真相揭露那刻，真相已不再重要，揭露真相的真心才是弥足珍贵的，也是需要勇气信念和善良的。

80年代的巴黎和90年代的中国城市面貌太像了吧：楼房、离婚率越来越高的家庭、钟情于广播和卡带的孩子们追逐爱情和自由自在。那种不饱和却鲜艳的暖色好似午睡的短梦，看到过却再也摸不到……
女主韵味十足，故事胜在简单，以及那句老话，法国人的生活离不开爱情。

编剧太高估自己的能力了，剧本会与凶杀案其实融合不到一起去。目前看过把谜面设计为动机而非凶手本身的悬疑作品，只有东野成功了。

作为导演刘循子墨银幕处女作就选择喜剧+悬疑的类型商业片，难度系数可谓直接拉满，不好笑或不抓人，影片都有可能直接歇菜。好在《扬名立万》拿捏好了这两种类型车轮的平衡，让观众观影过程一路顺畅。

“能公映，比什么都强”，“十个项目九个凉，商业投资很正常”；影人讲电影，有哭笑不得的挣扎，也有虚实之间的刻意模糊，以期提供各种欣喜小发现与被发现就会津津乐道的比照。化名影评，“《闪灵》重召”、“侠中侠”、“末片皇帝”…类似于《第十一回》、《主竞赛》的元素塞入有热闹；但也在插科打诨之外没全然忘记“whodunnit”的根本，最后的解密足够自圆其说。《安家》“爷叔”杨皓宇和邓家佳最好，请邓女士不要放弃，并且要吃下更多的电影饼。
万合天宜，希望能好，最起码要好笑。

虽然这部电影借女性角色为女性说了几句漂亮话，但是在很重要的动机方面，给出的理由是歌女被大人物性虐待，需要用碎尸的手段来保住她的名节，在场的人都觉得很合理且信了，这是很保守也很矛盾的。

悬疑和喜剧不易混搭，目前国内也仅唐探系列在此领域颇有所成，没想到刘循子墨处女作便交出不错的答卷。前面喜剧后面悬疑融合得不错，迷影元素不少，反嘲娱乐圈社交、影视圈创作，以及吐槽审查和署名，虽是创作者夹带私货，但并不枯燥。剧本杀风格迎合年轻人，然不失为行之有效的观影驱动力。选角和表演方式也指向更下沉的受众群体，营销跟上来就会小爆。
可能还没到五星那么好，可是抵不住我喜欢。各种隐喻挠得恰到好处，看得开开心心，却又有那么一点点惊心动魄的悬疑。我，可能是陈明昊在这个世界上唯一的颜粉……
