The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 一个被高墙内刻意误解、众口铄金的香港，走到了命运的转折点，是什么都不能做吗？还是每个专业人士坚守正义、负重前行，在最黑暗的时候为下一代照亮前行的路。很佩服方中信在最后的论述：今时今日的安稳是上一代留给我们的成果，我们最基本也要为下一代维持一个在法律面前人人平等的社会。单为这句话给五星，现在不明白，以后总有一天人们会明白。

2021.10.10 其实还是拍得挺好看的，我能给3.5星，节奏适当，制作不错，演员方面方中信谭耀文鲍起静曾江廖启智都压得住场面，年轻一辈的张建声很出彩，陈家乐一般，配乐对情绪渲染得很厉害，几场抒情段落也不拉胯。但本片最大的问题在于，作为一部港式主旋律的律政片，它宣扬的本应是是抗争官商勾结、争取真相与公义、用法律维护底层大众权益的价值观，片中主角方屡遭阻碍的压抑和结尾雷有辉的演讲也印证了这一点，但最后导致局势逆转的关键来自于相关利益方的内讧，如果不是死者父亲在发现真相后运用自己的势力告倒真凶（其中还要男主冒着犯法风险打擦边球），黑恶势力只怕是难以被撼动的。如果这真不是导演拍主旋律不小心跑偏了的话，那就只能解释为导演在说反话
低分原因估计是因为还是要靠富豪弄倒富豪，我感觉还可以这片。牵强的地方稍微多了点哈。
本来勉强打个三分，但爱了这句话：“我是害怕究竟带她来到一个怎样的世界” 这个世界不是非黑即白，但是我们应当追求正义和分辨是非，而不是拿这些话去劝人权衡利益。

演技演技不在线 剧情牵强 用力过猛 看的原因是youtube免费……
立意挺好的，但是剧情和逻辑设计上比较弱。两位律师毫无过度突然来了个人设大反转。同意在不伤及无辜人员的情况下，非常事用非常手段。但是这个结局太理想化了，被害人父亲是罪犯方的合伙人，有制裁到对方的财力和资本。如果受害者只是普通人呢？何况现实中，哪来的为了委托人可以丢掉自己事业甚至可能坐牢的律师？剧情最多三星，为了这个阵容加半星吧。
2021年的香港电影，比起其他同地区同时期电影，我倒觉得这部电影算是比较好的了。。。
不知道有没有人注意到片中角色的名字，尤其是曾氏父子和杨姓男子。。。我以为会很复杂，曾父和儿子在泳池边那个眼神，我以为会有一个反转，结果没有，雷律师最后被指控伪造文书时的陈述太过理想主义了，虽然起到了煽情和带节奏升华主题的作用，但是仓促中拉夸了整部电影内涵，总觉得他还想说些什么不能过审的东西。吊销执照三年，挺好的，当做休息了。
这个谭耀文到处搞点客串啊，太理想了，也就不好玩了。像别人说的如果死者是个普通人咋办啊？

老戏骨飙戏，很有看头，就是故事陈旧了些，为了最后的反转，多加一颗星吧。
最让我纳闷的是廖启智，智叔这个角色既然设定是富豪，而且还是和曾江这个老狐狸合作的富商。怎么就一点动作都没有，都没想过调查下女儿的死？结果还真的没有，哎。。
剧本弱剪辑也莫名其妙，每个人都是突然就醒悟了突然就放弃了，白瞎了这么好的阵容，最后的独白也太突兀了吧，写作文都不这样写了
检察官上来有罪推定就够瞧的了，剧情没有情感铺垫，故事冗长，反转太硬或者说没发展，愣上啊，如果没有有钱的爹，谁做污点证人啊。
