The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 末世公路片，喜欢它拍得温情而幽默，在如今的世情下，太需要这样的片子让人喘一口气了。
末日版绿野仙踪公路片。一部很独特的美国科幻片。没有特别激烈的冲突和孤胆英雄拯救世界的桥段，对因是美国大片而抱有这种期待的观众来说可能要失望了。其实是一部讲述当人类彼此失去信任后，机器和狗子对人类的治愈的故事。大漠之上，巨岩之下，支起一把红色遮阳伞，白色俏西装的男人和瘦高人形的红脸机器人共进午餐，旁边是摇着尾巴等待玩扔球游戏的棕色长毛狗，还颇有童话美感。对喜欢治愈故事的观众可能是惊喜。但全片节奏还是稍显单一。
能够沐浴阳光即是幸事
看多了今年好莱坞的垃圾，稳稳地讲故事竟已觉得难能可贵。
【2.5】喜欢这个象征性地将人类命运交接给机器人的结局，尽管这仍旧是一个过分乐观和执着于人类遗产的伟大意义的想象，但至少影片不再像多数末世灾难题材那样，深陷在人类命运的物种性延续上。除此以外，本片之于我毫无新鲜观感和乐趣，疫情下有的观众确实需要温柔抒情的电影抚慰，但在过往电影中已经可以找到大量更好的电影代替时，它的出现不见得是件好事。

完美，集合所有我喜欢的元素：废土、未来、科幻元素、狗狗。Jeff的演绎非常出色，细微的动作传达出丰富的情感，虽然是机器人，但是你能感觉到他的体温。最后太催泪了，呜哇，眼泪它就是停不下来啊啊啊！！！！
类似机器管家的题材，未来一片萧然悲观景象，故事线很弱，但汉克斯的表现基本拿住了整部戏。片头片尾贯穿的American pie赛高。
讨厌奴役任何智慧生命形式……一部末世片哭了两次，一次是杜威牺牲，还有一次是杰夫像个无助的孩子一样把头靠在将死的芬奇胸口无声的哭泣。最让我难受的是杰夫胸口的开罐器，那个难看的空洞……他诞生的全部意义——照顾好这条狗。人类还是自私而残忍！灭绝吧！！谢谢！k9广告打的可以！要涨价也麻烦只涨价这个罐头吧！谢谢
末世是老美擅长的题材，人工智能版温情版本《我是传奇》，Goodyear是轮胎（不是），是没能和家人一起度过的日子。人工智能再怎么智慧，似乎也只能装模作样地继承人类的情感，0和1之外还有无法度量的事务。配乐和镜头感极好
同类型片里我始终更喜欢《我是传奇》，这一部算不上特别的好，但是也拍出了自己的特色，以机器衬托人类，对于他人的信任，亲情的传承，人类给自己所设的边界与限制，是啊，我们人类就是这么可笑的物种。可是看完又有一丝悲伤，最后释然。
20220323，平平淡淡的片子好像没有高潮，如同表面平静的大海，实际蕴藏巨大的能量。独自一人静静看片，独自体验主人公芬奇害怕孤独的感觉。
一人一狗一房车的温情故事，哪怕把此故事置换到其它背景中也成立。末日废土科幻我是爱的，一人一狗一房车的温情故事我也是爱的，将二者杂糅在一起我却丧失了兴趣。
但是后面为什么能脱下防护服了？高温和辐射怎么也没有了？这个不做解释是不对的。
老汤姆两座小金人+金球终身成就奖，这部电影会不会为他再拿下一座小金人？
巨石压胸口的悲伤；希望汤姆汉克斯能一直一直演下去，看他诠释角色真的是一种享受；真心地希望apple tv超越netflix成为这个时代最好的流媒体，同时也无比的期待下一个电影的周期到来
