The story appears simple on the surface, but is revealed, especially after multiple viewings, as more multi-layered and textured than Cassavetes at his best. Ostensibly it concerns a 14-year old Catholic girl, Wynne (Agutter) growing up in this post-modern wasteland, who develops a crush on her much older adoptive brother (Marshall)- a crush which perversely deepens and grows into infatuation once she starts to believe he is the local sex killer. This is in itself an idea that makes you sit up and jolt, but as the narrative develops, it continues not necessarily along a linear path but in several confusing and fascinating directions: the family's history, (detailed effectively in chilling flashback during an improvised seance) is a chequered one, and has suffered at least one major relocation and upheaval in the last ten years. At the crux, however, it's the depiction of socialal changes that make I Start Counting so fascinating and elevate its language far beyond the confines of the standard horror film. The major subtext- that teenage girls were maturing more quickly than before, and developing full sexual and romantic appetites (even if in thought rather than deed) but were not possessed of enough discretion to make the right choices- was a step forward for a genre in which its young females had previously been portrayed as bimbo victims (Cover Girl Killer and The Night Caller spring to mind), but not one that all viewers would necessarily agree with. But most striking of all, and possibly the most enduring image which the viewer will take away with them, is of the masterful symbolism with which director Greene invests every shot. Every inch of the Kinch family's world- their house, their walls, their TV, Agutters underwear, bedroom furniture and toys, Sutcliffe's clothes, Marshalls van, the local Catholic church, their town centre, their record shop) - is painted a bright, scintillating white- a white which, by inference, is slowly becoming smudged and corrupted with the dirt of the outside world. White also symbolises, of course, purity and innocence (two qualities Catholic schoolgirls are supposed to hold dear), and it is into this world of innocence that the ever-present red bus (a symbol of violation and penetration), conducted by the lecherous yet similarly juvenile Simon Ward, makes regular journeys. The allegory is further expanded in one scene where Agutter believes she sees the Christ figure in church weeping blood: by the time we acknowledge it, its gone, but the seed has already been planted. Rarely in a genre production has the use of colour and background been so important or effective in creating a uniformity of mood. I Start Counting is as near-perfect an end to a decade as one could hope for, and exactly the kind of film people should be making now- which is, of course, exactly why they never will. 邪典片儿，最后无限生殖可以留名影史了。不恐怖，然后看不懂。奇特的是友邻都给了极高评价～感觉女主是在跟男主的pua、道德绑架和强加的内疚作斗争，最后好像是赢了，但是貌似也真有人被杀了？隐喻过多，看完致郁，隔壁的黑色电话不香吗不爽吗？奇特的是友邻们都评价很低。也许到头来大家都喜欢自虐吧～ps：加一颗星给Rory，看完才意识到都是同一个演员演的，NB！
81/100。加兰的镜头一直都好美啊，绿色杂乱的森林，绿草中破旧的房屋，暗红色调的房间，都让我非常喜欢。结尾的那场戏绝对是我今年印象最深的戏份之一。节奏不可避免地因为恐怖场景而有些杂乱，但控制得也挺不错了。用千人一面的男人来讽刺男权，我觉得是很有新意也很有力度的一种讽刺方法。另，加兰的恐怖从没让我失望过。
牛逼.........一定要看未删减版，连环分娩的场景我因为来不及躲避一下全程直视，可能会造成一段时间不小的心理阴影了......
随便看看就行了，希望导演下一部恢复正常水平
3.5⭐，这个连环生子虽然闹是闹心了点，但竟有种莫名的爽感，就是那种你也有今天的爽感
是想说男人没一个好东西？结果女主角色毫无层次…
居然有这么多人在今天凌晨看完整个cult电影。前面很美。
节奏还不错，并没有拖沓的地方，只是转到那一堆形而上的镜头时，太乱了，完全是堆砌元素。不过总体氛围还是很不错的，将“男人”最恶心的特点：暴力、色情、自大、无理、油腻，通通呈现出来，一听就很可怕。
原译名《们》，改成《男人》之后显然更合适，A24从来没让我失望，小作坊类型精品。男人们入侵她的视野、房屋、生活、思想，不允许反抗的附属品，就算说是蹭女权热度也得夸一下A24想转型的努力咯
求个解释，除了看出女性主义外，其他都什么什么隐喻啊
把女性对男性的恐惧原因以及男权无形的压迫构成，放大、拆解又表现出来，影像风格很赞，这个女性视角也是没想到加兰表现得这么好。就是这个放大解构得太明显惹…
伊甸园的禁果，生育的解构，男性视角的透析。极度的厌男，一绝的视效。但确实有些偏颇与生硬。
B+. 太明显了，男人就是恐怖之源。由男性凝视、荡妇羞辱、爹味说教、信奉暴力编织而成的天罗地网，在女性的心理与现实世界中皆成挥之不去的梦魇。
不管是故事展开，寓意，视听方面其实都很上乘，算是今年惊悚文艺片里第二，第一目前还是《你将不再孤单》
被预告里的摄影吸引来看的，期待值非常高，但最终呈现的内容确实是意料之外。我看懂了它想要表达的含义，但却没办法喜欢。看完之后像被扼住了喉咙，不知道该从什么角度去消化它的现实意义。如果艺术能仅仅停留在艺术就好了。
每个女性都能从女主身上看到自己真实的遭遇，啊男人真都是一个逼样，当我们拿起斧子，不再服从，不再内疚，开始反抗的时候，我们将不再恐惧。
空镜什么都挺美的，一到最后就无力收尾，希望nope别走这个路线
前二十分钟吓趴了，每当这种时候就想抓几个胆子小的女性朋友跟我一起看。。。
男人看了惭愧自省，女人看了惊恐悲凉，已经高于一般恐怖片而到了用表现主义展现男性社会对女性无形压迫的范畴
